The US mass shooting thread

Here you go....Really awful...and worse where you think you should be safe, you're not.
Thanks, will read it when I get a chance! :) Just have a lot to catch up on

I was having a debate with my father the other day. I was saying technically I bet no place in the USA is safe, as it's probable that some states would naturally have more resourceful and effectively distributed policing than other states.

However, a member mentioned that certain US states such as Chicago have very strict gun laws. I thought the gun laws are the same for all US states. I only learnt recently that each state has separate gun laws. So I suppose that is the reason why some US states have more gun crime than others.

What are your views, I'm sure you can fill me in more as you live in the states? :)

In Alabama:

Why do bad things happen to good ppl? :(

Update:

Two teenage boys have been charged with murder after the shooting at a 16th birthday party in Alabama that killed four and injured 32 over the weekend.

I'm glad to hear they have been arrested! Thanks for the update!
Me too, and you're welcome! It's still on my radar to read your post. Again, lots of news to catch up with, haha!

The FBI said they are hunting for a man accused of killing five of his neighbours in Texas after an argument about him practice-shooting nearby.

He allegedly opened fire on his neighbours after they asked him to stop shooting because they were trying to put a baby to sleep.

The victims were all from Honduras, and included an eight-year-old child.
Some people are crazy!

The local sheriff's office said it initially received a call about "harassment".

Investigators believe that the victims had asked Mr Oropeza, who it is thought had been drinking, to stop shooting as a baby was trying to sleep.
Police say the suspect replied: "I'll shoot out in my front yard, do what I want to in my own residence."

After both parties returned to their houses, the gunman "topped off his magazine, and walked down his driveway... into the people's house and started shooting," Sheriff Capers earlier said.

Every time I see something about another shooting in the US I say the same thing, they need to ban guns, end of. The problem you get from those in the US is that they instantly jump and talk about their rights and why should they have their rights taken because of someone who shot up a school or a cinema or a club or any public place.

Oh so no thought for those innocent people who were just killed but you worry about your rights to have a weapon in your house.

Honestly, if they banned guns they would be able to control it better.

While it makes sense that no one should have a gun, the argument and this has always been the problem is how do you get the guns from the bad guys. Bad guys won't give up their guns. Now you have innocent people under threat of being killed in a public setting because there isn't anyone armed to help against the bad guys. Maybe a different system that allows or disallows Americans to be armed, raise the age, have multiple people (as in friends and family) sign off for a gun purchase to the person wanting to purchase the gun. It's a complex problem and since Covid started there are more unstable people. The economy doesn't help either.

I ranted about that point in the linked thread ;)

What is wrong with people. See if I can find more on the subject.

People are broken, then you have the narcissistic monsters, gangs, the cartel deeply embedded in the US, or especially people with all of the Dark Triad in their personality, where they have zero empathy or feelings towards humanity, you get tragedies like yesterday. People's lives are changed forever every time these shootings happen.

Dark Triad

A deep dive in second amendment discussions at Friend's Realm and extra details about the tragedy in Allen, Texas and maybe a motive to "why did this happen"?

Why did this happen? The gunman, whose name has been not released publicly, is rumored to be part of a Dallas prison gang, Tango Blast.

A bit of more local news (below link) where a man was a first responder father at the mall. You can't unsee the carnage he described so watch with caution or not at all. It's very moving and puts up front how really horrifying each one of these mass shootings really are.

I'm deeply disturbed today and have been by the amount of violence escalating in America.
