So something I have noticed they still do in schools is teach children about religion, now as much as I am not against religion being taught, what I am against is the teaching being done in a way that it pushes a child to believe in a religion.
What are your thoughts on religion being taught in schools?
To what end is religion being taught in schools? I believe that it is completely unnecessary to teach religion in schools. It can easily lead to indoctrination which is not good for the society.
Back in my days, religion was taught in school, but i personally think it's best not to do this. There are kids who come from different religious backgrounds, most parents would definitely not want their kids learning something else.
I was enrolled in a Catholic school in college. Religion was part of the curriculum. I do not mind having such a subject in schools. However, just like @eLdavis said, some children come from different religious backgrounds, so I do not think schools should include it anymore or pressure kids to learn them.
Religion should be taught in school but not like in Churches, Mosques or Temples. They should teach about comparative religion, they should teach all major religion. They should teach the Bible or the Quran but how religion evolves, how it influenced people and society, etc.
