An Obsession with Likes in Social Media and Forums

"Likes" are kind of cool, but I am not really into them. I post for memories, not to impress. I do not mind if a post does not receive any likes. Some people, though, make a huge deal out of it. Since no one clicked the "like" button on the content they had posted, they deleted it.

The likes stuff comes from an in-crowd, not quality, in most cases I suspect. Well, what is your take on it? As you say, I'm not upset with no-likes or low-likes posts.

I don't share much, but when I share I expect likes and comments. I think this is very natural. However, some people go extreme and they try to buy engagements on their posts. This is kind of narcissistic behavior. Or, maybe they are trying to impress people so that they can get sponsorship.

Yes, I have noticed people are obsessed with likes on social media and the Likes are addictive. I think it's because they affect your brain, similar to taking chemical substances.

Likes symbolize a gain in reputation, causing one to constantly compare self to their peers. This is a state of being dependent on other people and looking for people-pleasing

Some people have completely based their lives on validation from other people. And social media "likes" is the easiest way for them to get that validation. For some some of them, it is so bad that they would get sad if they don't get the number of likes they think or enough.
