Should off-topic posts be allowed on the forums?

OK, I will clear this up. We have a off topic area called the General Lounge. General/Off-topic threads can go. This doesn't mean you go off topic within the topic that are in the area.

What this thread is about is going off topic within a topic. Which I have moved and/or started a new topic for two different threads tonight.

I am going to write rules for the debate/news areas. But I have to spend every night reading topics and then cleaning them up. So that I can't do other stuff I want to get done.

It is clear in the rules, and I did change the terms and rule link at the bottom of the site to the list of rules. ***Please stay on topic when posting.***

I have no problem with anyone starting a new topic and talk about whatever you want to talk about within that topic about the subject you started the topic about.

So for the last time, please stay on subject in topics.

Tbf I think this thread should be deleted as it’s gotten out of hand

Post an announcement to remind everyone of the rules if you wish, but it would be nice if you could do that without making jives at me in public, please. Thankyou

This is exactly how I see the General/Off-topic sections in any forum. Even though they are called off-topic, it doesn't mean that the topics being discussed in that section doesn't have any base. It's just called off-topic because any other kind of discussion topics that doesn't fall in other sub-forums can go in there.

As far as I am concerned, I do consider the off- topics section to be included in the forums. This is because there are many topics that can be covered on these topics which cannot fit on the other forum lists.
Most of the discussions that seems to be liked by most members in forums falls under this category.

This isn’t the topic of the discussion. The topic is about going off-topic within a thread. Or whether you prefer forums with rules about being strictly on topic

I'm a madame.
Rule of thumb: Never assume a person's gender 😂
This is off topic but allow me to go there. I learnt that the hard way in one gaming forum I used to be in called VGR. There was a lady in the forum whom I assumed to be a man and addressed her as such. She picked a serious offense with it and layed in hard on me for doing that. I had to apologise for doing but couldn't understand why she was that pissed about it. Ever since that day, I have have never asuumed anyone's gender online on forum. I will simply tag your name and get on with it.

I know from experience trans ppl take offence to it. Best not to. I always refer to a person as "he/she" or they if I'm unsure.
