There's been a lot of controversy lately since King Charles inherited the thrones.
I am against the monarchy as I feel it's a sign of privilege without any role.
There are many charitable people who don't hold such privilege, and I feel our money is going to fund their lavish lifestyle.

What are your thoughts?

Makes sense. I know not many members here are from the UK, however the monarchy exists for all Commonwealth nations.
Do you keep up with the monarchy, out of curiosity? You aware of the controversy with respect to Harry and Meghan... and all that?

I do scan the news on what's up with the royal family, yes. Do I purposely follow it ....no...and yes, totally aware about Harry and Meghan. and the fall out....sad.

What I find even more sad is how it's all in the media.
I do feel bad for people who are super well off financially, yet they have poor mental health. I think they are misunderstood by society. Just because someone is privileged does not mean that that is necessarily what they want.
I also feel that groupthink (i.e. the royal family are always right) can often lead to one being ostracised by society.
On the contrary, I find it hypocritical that they say they hate the media attention give public interviews and even went as far as to release a documentary and write a book complaining about the royal family.

In our country, we abolished the monarchy in 2008. I am against some people getting all privileges just because they are born into a certain family. I hate royalties, especially British Royalties. More than 50 percent of today's problems were created by the British Royal Family.

When I look at how they played a major role in the colonization of my country, slave trade, stealing of our origin and artifacts, there's no place in my heart to forgive them.

This article completely changes my view on Prince Harry; I totally understand why he wants to get his side of the story out now.

But NGN wants to stop his claim, saying he has run out of time to bring it.

Prince Harry's court papers also claim that his brother, Prince William, was paid a "very large sum" by the owners of the Sun newspaper to settle his own historical phone-hacking claims.

Hugh Grant says the publisher of The Sun newspaper used a "deliberate policy of false denials" to prevent him suing for breaches of his privacy.

Sounds like a common practice for the Sun to pry.

The actor was at the High Court for legal arguments as News UK attempted to get his case thrown out.

The publisher denies the claims and wants the judge to reject them.

Hugh Grant's statement claims that for years, News UK, as it is now called, lied about its involvement in phone hacking and illegal information gathering.

He said the company had a "vast, long-lasting and deliberate policy strategy plan of false denials and other concealment in relation to The Sun, to prevent me, and others in a similar position, from bringing claims against them."

This included, he said, false denials to the Leveson Inquiry into Press Standards, a press complaints body, and in public statements.

In recent years, News UK has settled a series of claims about illegal information gathering, without admitting liability.

The question of when victims of press intrusion learnt that they might have a case is crucial to this stage of the legal process because usually civil claims have to be brought within six years.

Many of the "hacking" claims date back much further, and could be dismissed as too old.

"Although we did our best to keep this information out of the public domain, we suspected that it was leaked by the hospital to the media", he said.

I have never really supported the Royal Family, The fact that you can be born into the Royal family and one day become head of state and gain everything without barely doing anything just does not sit right with me.

Unfortunately, what the people of the UK and other areas want we won't get as they seem set in stone that they will not go anywhere.

This is very true. They do seem to get a lot of support, even now with the coronation coming up, people are already camping out to get the good spots ready for the parade and such so there is huge support for them as opposed to those who do not support them.

I do know that there is a protest at the weekend and it would seem they are considering trying to disrupt the parade. The supporters will for sure outweigh them though.

That is true, it's either that or it's due to curiosity rather than in support. Usually though if that is pretty much the only thing on TV a lot of people just leave it on due to it being something they can have on for background noise rather than being interested.

I didn't watch the actual coronation as I was busy at the time but I did watch the concert. The concert was good but you could tell the struggled to get people to be able to perform for it. I did hear that many declined the offer to perform.
