Social media has definitely become a lot more popular over the years with just about everyone having an account on at least one if not more social media platforms whether it be for personal use, business use, or for a brand.

When it comes to social media, do you feel that it has helped socializing on the internet?

For me, I have been able to meet some amazing people through social media who I now have contact with frequently and it does work well for socializing.

In some ways, yes. But sadly, there are a lot of trolls and haters who tend to ruin things....
This I agree with a lot. You will always get a group of people that have to ruin a good thing online for others by causing trouble or starting some kind of drama. If you can stay away from that kind of behaviour, socializing online can be a pleasant experience.

Yes, absolutely! I don't use any major ones. I do use Instagram, but I no longer use it with my phone. Just on the web, since it's how I communicate with several friends. But posting pictures of stuff just to see if people react has gotten quite stale to me.

Sorry to say that, but we had better socialization before social media. People get less interactive with their surroundings after social media. People spend more time on social media and forget about the real socializations, like talking with people and playing and interacting with each other.

It's an interesting topic. I grew up in the 80's without all these fancy gadgets or the internet. Sadly, I have extreme social anxiety and paranoia. I only hung out with one person (one of my best friends). Also, middle and high school were *very* difficult. Sp I preferred to stay home in my later teens. I started talking to people via computers using my BBS, then Prodigy, AOL, etc. Now I have more close friends on-line than in "real life" (if there is a such a thing) and they are as real as anyone else is to me (despite that my former therapist, who I never really trusted or liked, said they weren't).

The being. at least for me, is that on-line socializing is just as important and rewarding to me than face to face.

Social media has changed a lot, and for the first time, my parents and I can spend an entire day in the same living room, using social media exclusively, without ever talking to each other.

My Mom didn't even know how to turn the computer on. lol My Dad took 6 hours setting up an IBM PCjr which had no hard drive and DOS version 1 on a floppy disk.

I'm the only one in the family that is good with computers. :ROFLMAO:

My g/f and I do enjoy sending e-mails or whatever back and forth. We both have our own PCs. :)

Social media has helped people to build bonds and partnerships with people in locations that they would not have ever accessed. It helps people to socialise remotely but not within. People have become anti social with physical people around them with the emergence of social media preferring to bond virtually.

My dad reads news exclusively, and he enjoys reading it online. My mother enjoys watching TikTok the most. However, my younger brother and sister don't even speak to us when they are holding their laptop or phone. They are quite intelligent. 😂
