I always remember when I was in school, it was in the final year of junior school which was known as year 6, and when you were between 10 and 11 years old that you would be taught sex education. This as far as I know was normal for most schools for a while and I believe even now, kids do not get taught about sex education until around that age even now.

Many people have voiced their concerns though and feel that children should be taught sex education earlier in life that they are.

What are your thoughts? Is between 10 and 11 years old a good time to teach kids sex education or do you feel it should be taught earlier?

I believe that 10 is a suitable age to start teaching kids about sex since their minds are still developing and they don't fully comprehend what we say. Plus, talking about sex to a child under 10 will make them uncomfortable, which will lead to tension.

At least if a specialist provides them with information in an adequate way it is better than they learn this from the street. It could lead to addiction to inappropriate sites without giving more details or doing some cupid actions or bad sexual habits like raping a girl at a teenage age which leads to prison.

Maybe can be taught in school but not as early as 10. Parents have the opportunity to teach their kids about their body parts, the sensitive ones and should be aligned to the Biology books. The other items on Sex Education should be handled when the kids turn 13 or 14 that when their curiosity starts. Proper education is important and should be taught when the kids are fully aware of what it is all about.

First, I give my kids the trust to talk to me about any topic. And I answer every question based on what I consider is suitable for their age
but my kids get answers when they are looking for one.

And I totally disagree that sex education to be done at school. That is the PARENTS job. I rather school to teach how to cook if they don't find anything else useful to teach.

The videos we saw in middle school and also early in high school and discussions were very silly, honestly. It's just shameful stuff adults, other than parents, shouldn't speak with youngsters about.

Of course, this was the early and mid 90s.

I believe this topic should be introduced early, but at the same time it should be handled with care. When we talk about sex education, it is like a two edge sword because you are exposing them to things they where not aware of.
