At the moment, at least in the UK where I live, any kind of birth control medication has to be prescribed to you by your doctor after you have either seen or spoken to them regarding wanting to be on birth control.

Some people end up not getting access to birth control because of how they have to gain access to it and a lot of people do not want to always go through all that to receive birth control which leads to unwanted pregnancies a lot of the time.

Should birth control be something that is sold over the counter by pharmacists? What are your thoughts?

Yes, sure. They are trying to pass that here in the US. Many women, including my g/f, have issues that birth control pills can fix, NOT just to stop pregnancy. But you have to jump through hoops to get it, including seeing a specialist in some cases. This is inconvenient, esp. for people who have social phobia and such, or are unable to go to the doctor. :(

I believe teen pregnancy is the result of the inaccessibility of birth control tools and lack of information. I believe birth control should be sold over the counter not only to stop teen pregnancy but also to stop abortion.

That is shocking that you have to go to those lengths to be able to get hold of something such as birth control. It does make you wonder if that is why there are so many unwanted pregnancies and also abortions as well, could have been avoided if they could have just purchased the birth control over the counter.

Yes it is appalling. :(

Yes, but I prescription by a medical personnel should be sighted before selling to the customer. I think this will help curb any abuse of it and indiscriminate consumption of it especially by underage people.
This I agree with so much! If it were to be sold over the counter to just about anyone, we would end up with too many taking that option and treating it as birth control which could cause so many issues.

Prescription would allow it to be distributed to those who needed it and had spoken to a professional before hand.

In my country, it isn't easy to get a doctor's prescription for an abortion medication. Every one is trying to prove morally upright and would advise you against aborting a pregnancy. I mean medical doctors. Only very few can give you a prescription so that you can purchase abortion medication.

In view of that, I think it is better that these medications be sold over the counter so that people can easily access them. No one should be sold the drugs without an identity card that shows he or she is over 18. There should be widespread campaigns and education of how these drugs should be used.
